VISION: The Vedic Campus
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Vedanada Gurukula Campus is envisioned as a self-sustaining center of
Vedic learning—a sacred space where knowledge, values, discipline, and
culture are nurtured for generations to come. Designed with both tradition
and practicality in mind, the campus will encompass all the essential
components needed for a complete Vedic way of life.
In its current (first) phase, the campus will include:
1. Veda Pataasala / Guru Nivas (Estimated cost of 1 – 1.5 Crores)
A Gurukula where all Vedas, Vedangas, and Upaangas will be taught. In
keeping with the traditional Gurukula system, the residence of the Guru and
Guru-pathnee will serve as the central hub of learning.
2. Student Residential Quarters (Estimated cost of 2 – 2.3 Crores)
A self-sufficient living space that can accommodate up to 50 students,
featuring a kitchen, dining area, shared rooms, a library, and a common study space.
3. Staff Residential Quarters (Estimated cost of 1.25 – 1.4 Crores)
As outlined in the campus plan, Upaadhya(s) and staff such as cooks and
administrators will reside on campus. Four self-sufficient units will be
constructed in this phase, each with 1-2 bedrooms, a living area, and a
kitchen.
4. Goshala (Estimated cost of 30 – 40 Lakhs)
A facility serving the Gurukula’s needs and preserving our traditional
ecosystem. It will primarily cater to the material needs of yaagas and offer an opportunity for go-samrakshana.
5. Yaagashala & Community Hall (Estimated cost of 2.5 – 2.95 Crores)
A traditional space dedicated to Vedic rituals and spiritual practices,
primarily aimed at promoting Loka-kshema (welfare of the world). It will also function as a venue for Vedic gatherings, accommodating large numbers of participants.
6. Site development and utility works (Estimated cost of 1.75 Crores)
Road works, Kalyani, retaining walls, utility (water & electricity) works.
7. Perimeter wall (Estimated cost of 60 Lakhs)
7ft perimeter wall with foundation to secure the campus
PROJECT PROGRESS
- Significant groundwork for the Gurukula Campus has already been completed.
- Land acquisition is fully secured, and all required government approvals and usage permissions are in place.
- Site development work (internal & public access road, and perimeter wall) has commenced, securing the site and ensuring smooth connectivity.

History
Veda Nada Gurukula ,was started in the year 2009 as an arm Of Kalyanapuri Vaidika Sabha ® (KVS). It is a Gurukula which teaches Rig Veda currently.
KVS itself had its beginning in the year 2000 (Regn No 472/02-03) and has a noble mission of bringing together and supporting Vaidikas ,assisting them financially to tide over expenses such as marriage ,housing etc. Since Vaidhikas had one common duty of sustaining Vedas ,it was decided to facilitate study of Vedas in order to spread it to more students Thus a Rig Veda Paatasala was started and was given a name Veda Nada Gurukula.
Sri Govinda Prakash Bhat Ghanapaati took up the position of the Acharya of the Paatasala. Two students joined in November 2009 and a few more joined in May 2010.In the year 2011 the venue got shifted to the current location i.e the Thurahalli village ,Bangalore. Currently there are 12 students which includes students from various states of India. One unique feature is the mix of students from different siddhanta streams of Sanathana Dharma like Smarthas, Vaishnavas and Madhvas.
Origin of the name
Initially the whole initiative started with a Navratri festival, Veda Nada Mahotsava at a place near Ragigudda, Bangalore and was later conducted at various places in Bangalore. The festival had Veda chanting sessions and Vedic rituals like Yagna, Havana etc. in the morning and music, lectures and cultural sessions in the evening. So there was ‘VEDA’ in the morning and NADA in the evening. Hence it was aptly named as VEDA NADA GURUKULA. In fact the cultural events initially funded the Gurukula and later on Gurukula was much more well known and hence started supporting other events.
